Drei Winterevents in einer Reise. Icefestival, Adlerjaäger und 1.000 Camelfestval. Wandere auf dem meterdicken Eis des Khovsguul See , beim Eisfestival. Erlebe die Faszination Winter mit den Nomaden am See, wenn die sich zu ihrem Wintertreffen auf dem See versammeln. Tolle Eisskulpturen entstehen, Lagerfeuer auf dem Eis und viele andere Aktivitäten.
In der Nähe von Ulaanbaatar treffen sich im Winter die Adlerjäger zu ihrem Winterfest. Die Jagd mit dem Adler wird in der Mongolei vor allem noch im Altai Gebirge praktiziert. In einem friedlichem Wettkampf Kühren die Adlerjäger den beten unter ihnen. Das ist schon einmalig wenn man so frei unter den majestätischen Tieren sich bewegen kann.
Und zum Schluss der Reise sind wir Gast in der verschneitenWüste Gobi beim 1.000 Kamelfestival. Das Kamel, der Stolz jeder Nomadenfamilie in der Gobi. Prächtig herausgeputzte Tiere treten zum Wettrennen und vielen anderen Wettkämpfen an, die schon seit Generationen in der Gobi durchgeführt werden.

Ulaanbaatar und Fahrt auf der Transmongolian Eisenbahn | Tag: | 2 | ||||
Besichtigung des berühmten Gandan-Kloster’s. Es ist das grösste aktive Kloster in der Mongolei und vermittelt einen kleinen „Hauch“ von Tibet in der Mongolei. Das Kloster wurde 1727 gegründet und in der Zeit um 1937 sehr schwer beschädigt, bzw. teilweise zerstört. Erst ab 1944 wurde es teilweise wieder in Betrieb genommen. Sein Name „Gandantegtschilen Chied“ bedeutet das „Freudvolle Kloster“. Es beherbergt die größte buddhistische Universität außerhalb von Tibet. Heute leben ca. 600 Mönche in dem Kloster. Das markanteste Gebäude ist das weiße Migjid Janraisig Süm. Hier befindet sich die 26 Meter hohe Statue der Göttin Janraisig, für die das Kloster berühmt ist. 1938 hatten sowjetische Truppen die Statue demontiert und eingeschmolzen. Spuren der Statue haben Mongolen in der Eremitage Sankt Petersburg entdeckt. Die buddhistische Gemeinde ließ 1996 mit umgerechnet fünf Millionen Dollar Spenden eine neue vergoldete Janraisig errichten. (Eintritt ist Optional). Besichtigung des neuen Chinnges Khan Museums. Das neu errichtet Gebäude, an der Stelle, wo früher das National Museum der Mongolei stand, vereint es die Exponate vom National Museum mit seiner berühmten Dinosaurier Ausstellung und einiger anderer Museen von Ulaanbaatar. Mit über 6.000 Exponaten bietet es einen guten Überblick über die Natur und Historie. Der berühmte Schwarzmarkt oder Naran Tuul Zach!. Auf dem „Diebesmarkt“ wissen die Mongolen, dass sie alles zum Besten Preis finden können. Ob für Lebensmittel, Möbel für zu Hause oder Jurte, Elektronik, Teppiche, Pferdesättel oder auch traditionelle Kleidung, die direkt aus dem benachbarten China importiert, es ist ein riesiger Basar, in den Du eintreten wirst. Lokale Atmosphäre garantiert, aber Vorsicht, es ist ein mongolischer Markt, der nicht auf die Bedürfnisse von Reisenden zugeschnitten ist. Sie können Antiquitäten finden, aber selten mehr klassische Erinnerungen. Am späten Nachmittag fahren wir zum Bahnhof, wo wir den Nachtzug nach Erdenet besteigen. Es steht eine spanende Fahrt auf einem Teilstück der berühmten Eisenbahnstrecke Moskau – Peking, bevor. Gemütlich werden wir durch die glasklare kalte Nacht nach Erdenet geschüttelt, wo wir am nächsten Morgen ausgeruht ankommen und schon von unserem Guide erwartet werden. | ||||||

Die Stadt Bulgan und der Vulkan Uran Togoo | Tag: | 4 | ||||
Weiterfahrt zur Bezirkshauptstadt Bulgan. Die Fahrt führt uns durch den nördlichen Teil der Mongolei. Bulgan selber ist eher eine moderne Stadt und bietet nicht so viele Attraktionen. Das Dashchoinkhorlon Kloster ist eher für Buddhistisch interessierte Gäste interessant. Wie die meisten Klöster in der Mongolei ersetzt dieses (erbaut 1992) das ursprüngliche Kloster Bangiin Khiiree, das 1937 zerstört wurde. Etwa 1.000 Mönche lebten und verehrten in Bangiin Khiiree, bevor sie verhaftet und vermutlich hingerichtet wurden. Es geht weiter zum Uran Togoo Vulkan. Der Vulkan erhebt sich mitten aus der mongolischen Steppe. „Uran“ bedeutet im Mongolischen so viel wie – Perfekt, Gut -. Und auch in der Tat, der Vulkankegel erhebt sich sehr deutlich aus dem flachen Umland. Der Vulkankrater hat einen Durchmesser von 600 mtr und ist 50 mtr. Tief. Ein kleiner Wanderweg führt direkt bis zum Kraterrand. | ||||||

Wintertag bei Nomaden in der Steppe. Heute lernen wir das Leben der Nomaden kennen. Tiere pflegen, Melken, Milch kochen und vor allem Wasser auftauen. Eine Tag mit Nomaden. Am Nachmittag bereiten wir dann das traditionelle Essen der Nomaden – Khorkhog – oder auch Ziege in der Milchkanne, zu. Für die Zubereitung von Khorkhog nehmen die Mongolen Lammfleisch oder Ziegenfleisch und schneiden es in Stücke von angemessener Größe. Dann legt der Koch zehn bis zwanzig faustgroße Steine in ein Holzfeuer. Wenn die Steine heiß genug sind, werden sie zusammen mit dem Fleisch in das gewählte Kochgefäß gelegt. Traditionell und typisch sind Milchkannen aus Metall. Durch die Hitze der Steine und den Dampf wird das Fleisch in der Kanne gegart. | ||||||

Weiterfahrt nach Morön und die Steingräber von Uushigiin | Tag: | 6 | ||||
Am Fluss „Selenge“ geht es weiter Richtung Morön. Der Selenge ist mit 992 KM der grösste Fluss in der Mongolei. Ein Zufluss des Selenges kommt aus dem Khovsguul See. Der Selege mündet dann in den Baikalsee. Ankunft in Morön. Morön ist das Verwaltungszentrum für die nördliche Region um den Khovsguul See. Der Ursprung des Ortes geht auf das Kloster Möröngiin Churee (1800) zurück. Das Kloster wurde aber 1937 zerstört. Ein kleines neues Kloster (Danzadardscha Chiid ) besteht seit 1990. Kurzer Ausflug von Morön zu den alten Gräbern von Uushigiin. Das Grabfeld besteht aus einer großen Anzahl von Gräbern aus der Steinzeit und sehr vielen Hirschsteinen. Besichtigung des Grabfeldes mit unterschiedlichen Hirschsteinen. | ||||||

Durch die nördlichen Berge und Wälder der Mongolei fahren wir nach Khatgal, der südlichen Stadt am Khuvsgul See. Das ist unser Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Region um den See. Khatgal verdankt seinen Ursprung eines Beobachtungspostens (1727) und bekam etwas an Bedeutung im Zusammenhang mit dem Handel nach Russland. Weiterfahrt zum Khuvsguk See, der jetzt mächtig zugefroren ist. Wahrscheinlich werden wir den „short cut“ über das Eis nehmen. | ||||||

Hier treffen sich die Nomaden aus der Umgebung vom See und aus der Grenzregion zu Russland zu einem Spektakel auf dem See. Es werden viele Eisskulpturen auf dem See entstehen, die Motive aus dem Leben und der Geschichte der Nomaden darstellen. Ungewöhnliche sportliche Wettkämpfe werden auf dem zugefrorenen durchgeführt. Erlebe den See bei Temperaturen deutlich unter – 30°C. Ein Fest, wo die Teilnehmer über viele hundert Kilometer über den tief durchgefrorenen See zusammenströmen. Shamanen versetzen sich in Trance und zelebrieren ihre Rituale, bei denen Du ein Teil davon sein kannst. | ||||||

Wir sind am Vormittag noch bei den vielen Aktivitäten auf dem Eisfestival. Glasklares Eis eröffnet den Blick bis tief auf den Seegrund. Die Luft zittert von der Kälte. Die Eiskristalle in der Luft glitzern und funkeln im Sonnenlicht und das Eis knackt immer mal wieder sehr heftig. Dann machen wir uns auf den Weg zurück nach Ulaanbaatar. Dort werden wir spät am Abend ankommen. | ||||||

Teilnahme am Adlerfest. Hier zeigen die letzten Adlerjäger in verschiedenen Wettbewerben ihr Können. Das Fest wird von der Mongolian Eagle Hunter’s Association vor einer atemberaubenden Bergkulisse organisiert. Eine Eröffnungszeremonie mit Parade, bei der die Adlerjäger stolz ihre Adler präsentieren und viele weitere Aktivitäten sowie interessante Spiele während der Adlerjagd machen dieses Fest zu einem Spektakel. Ein seltenes Spektakel, an dem wir als Gäste teilnehmen dürfen. | ||||||

Unser zweiter Tag auf dem Adlerfest. Heute werden mehrere unterschiedliche Geschicklichkeit Wettkämpfe mit dem Adler durchgeführt. Die Adlerjäger müssen beweisen, wie gut ihr Adler auf Kommando hört, oder die Beute, die an einer Leine hinter dem Pferd hergezogen wird, fängt. Zur Siegerehrung am Nachmittag kommen dann alle noch einmal zusammen um in einer feierlichen Runde die Preise zu verteilen. Wir machen uns danach auf den Weg zum Flughafen und werden mit einem Inlandsflug nach Dalandzagad, der Bezirkshauptstadt in der Gobi, fliegen. | ||||||

Stelle Dir die Wüste Gobi im Winter vor, goldener Sand, bedeckt von weißem Schnee…… Die mongolische Gobi ist nicht nur für ihre Schönheit, Kamele, Nomaden und Dinosaurierfunde bekannt, sondern auch für ihre Winterlandschaft. Das Tausend-Kamele-Festival wird seit 20 Jahren von lokalen Kamelhirtengemeinschaften organisiert, um die zweihöckrigen Trampeltiere zu schützen. Das farbenfrohe, ungewöhnliche Ereignis zu einem der berühmtesten Winterfeste der Welt geworden. Die mongolischen Kamele sollen gefeiert, die Art geschützt und das reiche Erbe der mongolischen Kamelzucht an die nächste Generation weitergegeben werden. Nomaden aus nah und fern tragen ihre besten Trachten und reiten auf ihren besten Kamelen, um an dem Fest teilzunehmen. Während des Festes treten einheimische Kamelhirten in einem Rennen gegeneinander an, es werden Kamelpolo-Turniere und Schönheitswettbewerbe veranstaltet. Neben den Wettkämpfen führen mongolische Musiker und Tänzer auch Volksdarbietungen vor. Einer der Höhepunkte des Festes ist die Geburt eines kleinen Fohlens auf dem Fstgelände, was von den Zuschauern als gutes Omen für eine starke Zunahme der Kamelpopulation gewertet wird. | ||||||

Geierschlucht und Fahrt zur „Singenden“ Düne Khongorin Else | Tag: | 16 | ||||
Wanderung durch die Geierschlucht (Joly Am). In der Schlucht, besteht die Möglichkeit, den Aufstieg zum Kamm des Gebirges (ca. 300 höhenmtr.) anzutreten. Den Weg in die Schlucht, können Sie auch gerne auf dem Rücken eines Pferdes zurücklegen (Kosten optional). Mit etwas Glück kann man eine Vielzahl von Wildtieren, darunter auch den Bart-Geier oder Steinböcke beobachten. Wir verlassen das Gobi-Gurvansaikhan Gebirge durch die Dugany Am. Wir fahren von der Geierschlucht durch eine fantastische Gebirgslandschaft. Die Piste folgt einem kleinen Flusslauf, der dieses Tal gebildet hat. Am Ende des Tals, bevor sich der Fluss in der Weite der Gobi verliert, zwängt sich der Fluss und folglich auch Wir, mit unserem Fahrzeug durch eine sehr enge Schlucht (Dugany Am) wo gerade noch unser Fahrzeug durchpasst und der Fahrer sehr aufpassen muss, dass er nicht die Felsen bei der Durchfahrt berührt. Entlang der südlichen Ausläufer des mächtigen Altaigebirges (Gurvan Saikhan Gebirge), geht es weiter zu der Sanddüne „Khongolin Else“, oder von den Nomaden als „singende Düne“ bezeichnet. Besteigung der bis zu 400 mtr. hohen Sanddüne. Das Besteigen ist kräftezehrend und Sie sollte etwas Kondition mitbringen. Bei jedem Schritt gibt der Sand einen halben Meter nach, aber wenn man es geschafft hat und Oben angekommen ist, wird man von einem einmaligen Rundblick über die Gobi belohnt. Hier können Sie das “Singen“ des Sandes hören. Wir können einen der wunderschönen Sonnenuntergänge in der Wüste erleben. Die etwas Wintersportbegeisterten können dann den Abstieg mit einem Plastikschlitten machen. Ein einmaliges Erlebnis, die Strecke, die man mühselig Aufgestiegen ist, dann wieder mit dem Schlitten in der Gobi herunter zu sausen. Alternativ, sollte gerade kein Plastikschlitten zur Verfügung stehen, geht auch eine Plastiktüte. | ||||||

Umfahrung der südlichen Ausläufer des Altaigebirges in Richtung Bulgan und Bajandsag (Red Cliffs). Den Namen hat diese Sandsteinfelsformation durch ihre orange Farbe erhalten, die gerade beim Sonnenuntergang sehr intensiv leuchtet. Besichtigung der einmalig geformten Felsen von Bajandsag. Bajandsag wird auch als Dinosaurierfriedhof bezeichnet. Die Gegend um Bajandsag ist insbesondere bekannt für die Nester von Dinosauriern, die in den Gesteinen der kreidezeitlichen „Djadokhta-Formation“ bei einer der von Andrews geleiteten Expedition erstmals gefundenen wurden. | ||||||

Ein Eisfest der Superlative im Norden der Mongolei, nicht nur was die Temperaturen angeht. Das Eisfest der Nomaden am Khovsguul See. Normalerweise führen sie ein einsames Leben in den Grasflächen und Wäldern rings um den größten See der Mongolei. Die Temperaturen sind mit freundlichen – 45° C mehr als deutlich unter dem Gefrierpunkt. Das Wasser wird in Blöcken aus dem See gehauen. Eine Schlittenladung reicht für vier Tage. Die nächste Siedlung ist gut drei Reittage entfernt. Die Tage sind kurz, die Nächte dafür umso kälter.
Jedes Jahr im Februar treffen sich in der Süd Gobi, nahe bei Dalandzagad mehr als 1.000 Kamele zu einem wohl einmaligen Festival. Es entwickelt sich für eine kurze Zeit ein buntes Treiben der Nomaden in der Gobi. Aus der gesamten Süd Gobi kommen die Nomaden zu dem Fest zusammen. Die Kamel, immer noch ein wichtiges Transportmittel in dieser Region, werden prächtig herausgeputzt und die Familien kommen zu unterschiedlichen Wettkämpfen zusammen.

1.Tag | Ankunft in Ulaanbaatar und Transfer zum Hotel. Nachdem Sie die Möglichkeit zum Geldwechseln hatten, beginnen wir mit der Stadtbesichtigung. Auf unserem Programm steht das Gandan Kloster, das das grössten und wichtigste Kloster in der Mongolei ist. Wir werden den alten Winterpalast vom letzten König besuchen und uns auf dem Suhkebaatar Platz das Neue Dishingges Khan Denkmal anschauen. Am Abend besuchen wir das National Dance Ensemble und Sie bekommen einen schönen Überblick über die mongolische Folklore |
2.Tag | Abfahrt aus Ulaanbaatar in Richtung östliche Mongolei. Die Fahrt führt und in das Khentii Gebirge, das sich nordöstlich an Ulaanbaatar anschließt. Wir werden in die verschneite mongoli-sche Winterlandschaft eintauchen. |
3.Tag | Wir erleben die Eröffnungsfeier des Pferdefestivals. Bevor die Wettkämpfe beginnen, wird das Pferdefestival in einer farbenprächtigen Zeremonie eröffnet. Pferde und Reiter sind prächtig „herausgeputzt“. Bei den eigentlichen Wettkämpfen geht es um Geschicklichkeit mit den Pferden, sowie um Ausdauer und Genauigkeit. Wir wer werden den gesamten Tag bei den Wettkämpfen verbringen. Wir können auf einem Rundgang über das Gelände die einzelnen Pferdeherden ansehen. Zu Mittag werden wir in eine der vielen Jurten einkehren und von den unterschiedlichen landestypischen Speisen probieren. Untergebracht werden Sie in eine der landestypischen Jurten. |
4.Tag | Unser zweiter Tag beim Pferdefestival. Heute werden die Reiter ihre Geschicklichkeit mit den Pferden im Umgang mit Pferdeherden zeigen. Es stehen unterschiedliche Disziplinen auf dem Programm. Am Nachmittag werden wir, bevor die Siegerehrung erfolgt, ein Pferderennen erleben. |
5.Tag | Heute werden wir von einer Nomadenfamilie eingeladen. Zum Alltag einer Viehzüchterfamilie gehört das Melken der Kühe und Ziegen, die Herstellung der verschiedensten Milchprodukte – je nach Saison und Monat und die Zubereitung der Mahlzeiten. Probieren Sie, Buuz, gefüllte gedämpfte Teigtaschen, zu formen und genießen Sie die Köstlichkeiten gemeinsam mit den Gastgebern. |
6.Tag | Rückfahrt in Richtung Ulaanbaatar. Wir kommen an der größten Reiterstaue von Chingges Khan vorbei. Es Besteht die Möglichkeit, auf die Reiterstaue hinaufzusteigen und man hat von oben einen herrlichen Rundblick über die mongolische Steppenlandschaft. Hier befindet sich auch ein Museum mit Exponaten aus der mongolischen Historie. Wir werden dann weiterfahren nach Tereltsch. Diese Region wird auch „mongolische Schweiz“ genannt und ist auch im Winter landschaftlich sehr reizvoll. |
7.Tag | Am Vormittag unternehmen wir eine kleine Wanderung durch den Naturpark Tereltsch. Alternativ können wir auch einen kurzen Ausritt mit Pferden unternehmen. Am Nachmittag werden wir den bekannten Schildkrötenfelsen und ein kleines Buddhistisches Kloster in Tereltsch besuchen. |
8.Tag | Rückfahrt nach Ulaanbaatar wo wir am frühen Nachmittag ankommen und nachdem wir in unserm Hotel eingecheckt haben, hat jeder ‚Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit, die Stadt auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. |
9.Tag | Fahrt mit dem Überlandreisebus in den Norden der Mongolei nach Morön. In Morön werden wir gegen den späten Nachmittag ankommen und die Zimmer in unserm Hotel beziehen. |
10.Tag | Mit einem Allradfahrzeug fahren wir zum Khovsguul See. Gleich hinter Morön machen wir einen kurzen Ausflug zu den alten Gräbern von Uushigiin. Besichtigung des Grabfeldes mit unterschiedlichen Hirschsteinen. Seit 1999 wird hier von der Kanazawa Universität (Japan) eine Grabung durchgeführt. Am Khovsguul See werden wir am frühen Nachmittag ankommen und unsere landstypischen mongolischen Jurten beziehen. Der Nachmittag und der Abend ist den Vorbereitungen für das Tsagaan Sar Fest gewidmet. Wir werden eine in der Nähe lebenden Nomadenfamilie aufsuchen und mit ihnen die Vorbereitungen für das Fest gemeinsam machen. Es müssen jede Menge an Buuz (mongolischen Nationalgericht) von Hand gemacht werden. Am Abend sitzen wir gemeinsam mit unserer Familie zusammen und feiern den Vorabend (Bituun) vom Neuem Jahr. |
11.Tag | Schon ganz früh, noch vor dem Sonnenaufgang werden wir auf den Beinen sein, um den ersten Sonnenaufgang im neuen Jahr feierlich zu Begrüßen. Den Vormittag werden wir mit unserer Nomadenfamilie Tsagaan Sar feiern. Viele Familienmitglieder werden uns besuchen und nach mongolischem Brauch das neue Jahr mit den Gastgebern Begrüßen. |
12.Tag | Die Region um den Khovsguul See ist auch das Siedlungsgebiet der Tsaaten, oder „Renntiermenschen“, einer ethnischen Minderheit in der Mongolei. Wir werden heute eine dieser Familien Besuchen, die ihr Lager extra wegen des Rentierfestes in der Nähe des Sees aufgeschlagen hat. Reitausflug auf einem Rentier und am Abend werden wir eine einem kleinem Schamanenritual teilnehmen. |
13.Tag | Pferde und Mongolei ist ein Begriff. Heute werden wir am Vormittag mit den kleinen mongolischen Pferden einen Tagesausflug am Ufer des Khovsguul Sees unternehmen. Am Nachmittag unternehmen wir eine kleine Wanderung zum Festivalplatz auf dem See um bei den Vorbereitungen zu zusehen. Im Umfeld des Festivalplatzes entstehen zu der Zeit viele tolle Eisfiguren. |
14.Tag | Wir werden am Morgen, nach dem Frühstück von heftigem Hundegebell empfangen, ein sicheres Zeichen, das unsere „Fahrzeuge“ angekommen sind, um uns abzuholen. Warm angezogen, geht es heute mit dem Hundeschlitten über den Khovsguul See. Immer wieder passieren wir Risse, an denen sich Eisschollen übereinander geschoben haben. Mitten auf dem See werden wir unser Mittagessen einnehmen. Am frühen Nachmittag werden wir wieder zu unserem Lager am Seeufer zurückkehren. |
15.Tag | Heute werden wir einen Ausflug durch abwechslungsreiche Lebensräume des Khovsguul Nationalparks machen. Wir wandern eine Schlucht hinauf und kommen zu Stellen mit unglaublichen Ausblicken, wo wir gute Chancen besitzen, viele Wildtiere und andere zahlreiche Raubvögel wie Adler und Falken zu sehen. Wir bleiben hier bis zum späten Nachmittag und beobachten Wildleben. Nachmittags wandern wir wieder zurück zu unserem camp. |
16.Tag | Fahrt mit dem Allradfahrzeug auf den Khovsguul See. Das meterdicke Eis macht es möglich. Das Festival ist jedes Jahr an einem anderen Ort. Wir werden das Pferderennen auf dem Eis, das Ringen ( Nationalsport ) erleben. Zwischendurch gibt es immer wieder warme Getränke zum Aufwärmen. Am Abend großes Lagerfeuer mit traditionellem Tanz und Schamanen Ritualen. |
17.Tag | Nochmals fahren wir auf den See, heute ist das Schlittenrennen und die Preisverleihung der Höhepunkt für uns. Danach haben wir die Möglichkeit, etwas abseits vom Festival eine Rentierzüchterfamilie (Zarten) zu besuchen. Die Zarten sind eine Minderheit und leben sehr verstreut am nördlichen Khovsguul See. Sie leben hauptsächlich von der Rentierzucht. Am Nachmittag fahren wir nach Morön zurück. |
18.Tag | Inlandsflug von Morön über Ulaanbaatar in die Gobi. |
19.Tag | Heute beginnt das große Fest in der südlichen Gobi. Aber alles fängt geruhlich an. Am Vormittag begeben wir uns zum Wettkampfgelände. In einer feierlichen Eröffnung, werden die Kamele, die den Wettstreit ausführen samt Reiter präsentiert. Die Tiere sind für den Wettkampf prächtig herausgeputzt. Alle Teilnehmer an dem Wettstreit haben ihre festliche Kleidung angelegt und bei garantiertem klarem Himmel und eisigen Temperaturen ist es ein großes Schauspiel. Wir werden den gesamten Tag auf dem Wettkampfgelände verbringen und sowohl die unterschiedlichen Wettrennen der Kamele, als auch die Folkloredarbietungen am Rande des Festivals erleben. Gegen Nachmittag, dann wenn die Dämmerung einbricht fahren wir zu unserem Hotel zurück. |
20.Tag | Am zweiten Tag des Festivals, finden am Vormittag die Siegerehrungen auf dem Festplatz statt. Wir nehmen an der Preisverleihung teil und können noch einmal die prächtig herausgeputzten Tiere der Gewinner bestaunen. Am Nachmittag Rückflug nach Ulaanbatar und Flughafentransfer in unser Hotel. |
